Count related donors as one with custom giving units
Group donors, such as a household or a family and their business, so Parable counts them as one in giving analytics and pledge progress.
A family might give personally and through their business, but to your finance team they’re one household of generous people. Custom giving units let Parable count them that way.
What a custom unit does
A custom unit groups donors together. Parable then treats them as one donor in its giving analytics. Every member’s gifts count toward a shared pledge, giving reports count the unit once, and Ask Parable answers giving questions the same way.
Units build on Planning Center’s joint giving units. When you add a person, anyone they already share a joint giving unit with in Planning Center comes along too, marked Planning Center joint member.
Your Planning Center records never change. Custom units only affect how Parable counts giving.
Create a unit
- Open Settings, then Giving.
- Under Custom units, select New custom unit.
- Give it a Name, such as “Smith family + Smith Consulting”, and an optional Note explaining why these donors are combined.
- Under People, search by name, donor number or Planning Center ID and add each donor.
- Save the unit.
Who can manage units
You need to be an organization admin with full giving access to see Giving settings and manage custom units.
