Fund reports count only what was given to that fund

When Ask Parable builds a giving report about a fund, it now counts only the part of each gift designated to that fund, so split gifts no longer inflate totals.

Finance teams and pastors need to trust a fund total before they share it with a board or a congregation. Giving reports that Parable’s AI builds now count fund giving the way your bookkeeping does.

Split gifts, counted correctly

A single gift can be split across several funds, such as part to the general fund and part to missions. Before this change, a report Parable built about one fund could count the whole gift towards that fund, so each fund’s total looked larger than it was.

Now, reports and answers about a specific fund count only the amount designated to that fund. This applies to reports created in the Report Builder and to giving answers in Ask Parable.

Built-in checks on giving questions

Common giving questions now use built-in, tested definitions rather than a query written from scratch each time. That covers:

  • totals and averages by fund
  • medians
  • giving by month and by donor
  • giving bands

Parable also checks generated queries before they run. If a query would add up whole gifts while filtering to one fund, it’s stopped rather than shown to you.

What about reports you already saved?

This change applies to reports built from now on. Reports you saved earlier were not rewritten. If you have a saved fund report built from split gifts, rebuild it in the Report Builder to use the corrected counting.
