Five clear roles for your team

Team access now comes down to five roles, Owner, Admin, Editor, Viewer and Billing Manager, with giving access set separately for each person.

Everyone on your staff should see what they need for their ministry, and no more. Parable now has five plain roles, so it’s easy to give each person the right access and to tell what someone can do at a glance.

The five roles

  • Owner: everything, including deleting the workspace.
  • Admin: everything an Owner can do except delete the workspace. That includes the team, billing, apps and workspace settings.
  • Editor: create, edit, share and export reports and dashboards, and use Ask Parable. Editors can’t manage the team or billing, or use the SQL Editor.
  • Viewer: read-only access to reports, dashboards and your church’s data.
  • Billing Manager: plans, billing and receipts only.

Anyone who had the older Data Explorer role is now an Editor.

Giving is handled on its own. Each person’s Giving Data Access is set to None, Summary for aggregate totals, or Full for individual giving details.

Change someone’s access

  1. Open Settings, then Team.
  2. Open the menu on a member’s row and choose Manage Roles.
  3. Under Grant New Role, choose a role. Remove an old one under Current Roles.
  4. Set Giving Data Access for that person.

Parable won’t let you remove or demote your workspace’s last Owner, or let that Owner leave. Make someone else an Owner first, so your church is never left without one.
