Set goals and benchmarks on your reports

Give a report a goal or a benchmark target, and Parable shows a gauge on the report and its dashboard tile so you can see at a glance how you're tracking.

A number means more when you know what you’re aiming for. Reports can now carry a goal or a benchmark, so a weekly attendance figure or a giving total tells you straight away whether you’re on track.

Goals and benchmark targets

Each report can have either a goal or a benchmark target:

  • A Goal is a fixed number, or a year-over-year growth percentage, that you want to reach (At least) or stay under (At most). Its gauge shows Goal achieved or In progress.
  • A Benchmark target compares the report against a reference: the report’s own figure, another saved report, or one of your metrics. Its gauge shows Strength, Growth opportunity or Needs immediate attention.

The gauge appears on the report and on any dashboard tile that shows it.

Add a target

  1. Open Reports and open the report.
  2. Select Edit in Builder, then the Settings tab.
  3. Under Compare against, choose Benchmark target or Goal and fill in the details.
  4. Save the report.

You can also ask for a goal in the builder’s chat, for example “set a goal of 500”. You need edit access to the report. If a benchmark uses another saved report, Parable checks that you can access that report too.
