Parents who check in their kids now count as present
When a parent or caregiver checks children in through Planning Center Check-Ins, their own engagement score now reflects that they were there.
A parent who brings their kids every Sunday shouldn’t look disengaged because they never check themselves in. Engagement scores now give caregivers credit for being there.
Credit for the person at the kiosk
Before this change, attendance credit went only to the person who was checked in. Parents and caregivers who checked children in week after week could show up as low engagement or set off a warning light, even though they were in the building.
Now, when Planning Center Check-Ins records who checked someone in, that adult receives attendance credit too:
- The caregiver earns partial attendance credit, which fades over time like other attendance.
- Checking in several children at the same time for the same event counts once, not once per child.
- Each child keeps their own full attendance credit.
- Credit goes to the person who did the check-in, not to everyone in the household.
Nothing to set up
This works automatically for every church with Planning Center Check-Ins synced. You’ll see the effect in engagement tiers, warning lights and each person’s category breakdown.
To see it for one person, open People, select a person and look at Recent activity. In Activity types, choose Caregiver check-ins to see each time they checked someone in.
