What Vitals tells you
A capacity gauge, contextual attendance, and an AI Insight that explains the trend — speaker history, weather impact and holiday alerts included. Its Check-Ins Lab can also surface families slipping away, and the pastoral-care inbox gives the care team a follow-up list. That is no longer an aggregate-only answer, and for many churches it is the whole workflow they need.
What Parable tells you
The same 6%, then whatever follow-up the pattern raises: whether the missing households joined in the same season, served on the same team, or carried on giving after attendance stopped. The distinction is not whether names appear — both products can surface people now. It is whether the next question fits a predefined Lab or becomes a new report on demand.
Vitals now explains the chart and can hand a care team people to contact. Parable earns its place only when the question keeps changing, the answer needs to be kept, or someone wants the modelled data underneath.

Conceding the ground they hold
Where Vitals is the better buy
Price, and at the entry point it is not close. Vitals is $50 a month per campus with unlimited users and unlimited data, and they set your dashboards up for free. Parable starts at $99 a month, or $79 billed yearly. If your church is one campus and the job is weekend numbers, Vitals does that job well for about half our monthly rate, and roughly two-thirds of our yearly one.
They also build things we have not. AI Headcount counts people from a photo of the room. Giving, Groups, Volunteers and Check-Ins Labs turn Planning Center records into predefined operational views. Their pastoral-care inbox surfaces people and families for follow-up, and automations email the right person when the data changes. They also read YouTube, Google Analytics, Facebook and Instagram — Parable reads none of those.
And if you are a new church, check your incorporation date before you compare anything else: Vitals is free for a year for churches under two years old. We do not match that, and we would rather you took it.
Our own weak spots
Where Parable is the wrong choice
- We do not count heads from a photo. If nobody is checking people in, Vitals has a way to get a number and we do not.
- No YouTube, Google Analytics, Instagram or Facebook data. Your online reach lives somewhere else and stays there.
- Multi-campus costs more with us. It starts on our Growth plan at $149 a month billed yearly, where Vitals simply charges $50 per campus — so below three campuses they are cheaper.
- No pastoral-care inbox or email automations. Parable can surface the people, but your team still owns the follow-up workflow.

Is Parable better than Vitals?
For different jobs. Vitals is the more packaged church-health dashboard at a lower price, with predefined Labs, family alerts, a pastoral-care inbox and automations. Parable is the one built around open questions, reusable custom reports and direct access to the modelled data. Vitals can now show people as well as totals, so that is no longer an honest dividing line.
Can we use both Parable and Vitals?
Some churches do, and nothing breaks — both read Planning Center independently, and the only thing Parable can add to it is custom fields and notes on people, if you turn that on. Most consolidate within a couple of months, because two dashboards showing slightly different attendance numbers causes more arguments than it settles.
Do we have to leave Planning Center to use Parable?
No, and you should not. Parable is a layer on top of Planning Center rather than a replacement. You keep Planning Center exactly as it is, and your giving provider too.
How do we switch from Vitals to Parable?
There is nothing to migrate. Parable reads your history straight out of Planning Center, so your first sync brings years of attendance and giving with it. Connect Parable, run it alongside Vitals for a month, then cancel whichever one your staff stopped opening.
How much does Vitals cost?

They run a 30-day free trial with no credit card, and churches less than two years old get their first year free. Does Vitals connect to Planning Center?
Yes. Their public integration list names Check-Ins, Services, Giving, Groups, People, Registrations and Calendar, alongside YouTube, Google Analytics, Facebook and Instagram; CCB, Breeze and Pushpay are listed as coming. Vitals now uses that data in person and family Labs as well as dashboards. Parable’s remaining distinction is open-ended reporting over a modelled historical copy, not exclusive access to names.
Is Vitals' AI the same as Parable's?
No, and this is the thing most worth understanding before you choose. Vitals' AI explains trends you are already looking at — it will point at a speaker, a holiday weekend or the weather as context for a chart in front of you. Parable's takes a question you type and answers it against your data, including questions nobody anticipated when the dashboards were built. One annotates a dashboard; the other builds one on demand.
We have four campuses. Which works out cheaper?
Ours, at four. Multi-campus support starts on our Growth plan — $149 a month billed yearly, up to 10,000 profiles, unlimited staff accounts, no per-campus charge. Vitals charges $50 per campus, so they are cheaper at one or two, it is roughly a wash at three, and from four the flat plan costs less. Profile count matters as much as campus count, though: if four campuses put you over 10,000 profiles you are comparing against our Scale plan rather than Growth.
