Parable vs Vitals · updated 24 July 2026
Both read your Planning Center data. Only one answers new questions.
Vitals is a weekend-metrics dashboard, and a well-priced one. Parable is a reporting layer you can ask anything — and every answer comes back with names attached.

The short answer
If you need to know how many came on Sunday, Vitals does that for $50 a campus and does it well. If you need to know which families stopped coming — and to ask a question nobody built a dashboard for — that’s Parable.
Who should choose which
Written honestly, because a pastor can tell when they're being sold to.
Choose Vitals if…
- Your main job is tracking weekend numbers and sharing them with your board.
- Price is the deciding factor — $50 per campus is genuinely hard to beat.
- You count heads manually and want the AI photo-counting tool.
- You want YouTube and social stats beside your attendance.
- You're a church plant under two years old — Vitals is free for your first year.
Choose Parable if…
- You need to see the people inside the number, not just the number.
- Your questions change every week and a fixed dashboard can't keep up.
- You want giving, attendance, groups and serving on one person record.
- You're forecasting giving or tracking whether January's new members stayed.
- Someone on staff would use SQL if you gave them the chance.

Our own weak spots
Where Parable is the wrong choice
- Under about 200 people you probably don't need us. Planning Center's own dashboards will do.
- We don't count heads from a photo, and we don't pull YouTube or Instagram stats.
- If your Planning Center data is thin, Parable surfaces that fast. It reads what is there; it cannot invent history.
- We're a smaller company than the platforms we're listed beside. That's why you can book a call and get a founder rather than a support queue, but you should know it.

Questions people ask us
Is Parable better than Vitals?
For different jobs. Vitals is the better weekend-metrics dashboard at a lower price. Parable is the only one of the two that answers open questions and shows you individual people. If your board wants a clean attendance chart, Vitals will do it. If your staff needs to know who to call this week, it will not.
Can we use both Parable and Vitals?
Some churches do, and nothing breaks — both read Planning Center independently, and the only thing Parable can add to it is custom fields and notes on people, if you turn that on. Most consolidate within a couple of months, because two dashboards showing slightly different attendance numbers causes more arguments than it settles.
Do we have to leave Planning Center to use Parable?
No, and you should not. Parable is a layer on top of Planning Center rather than a replacement. You keep Planning Center exactly as it is, and your giving provider too.
How do we switch from Vitals to Parable?
There is nothing to migrate. Parable reads your history straight out of Planning Center, so your first sync brings years of attendance and giving with it. Connect Parable, run it alongside Vitals for a month, then cancel whichever one your staff stopped opening.
